Germany Adventure Timeline

This upcoming year is going to be very exciting and I want to share my experiences in Germany with you!

I am one of 25 American students, from all across the country, who is going to Germany to learn the language, experience the German Culture, and work as an intern while abroad.I should be solidifying my internship quite soon. I am hoping to work as a teacher, or in an environment where I get to work with kids.

This is the site for the CBYX Nacel Open-Door program:

For now I know that for 7 weeks I will be attending the Akademie für Internationale Bildung ( Academy for International Education - the AIB) in Bonn, Germany. This is a German language school to prepare us for our year in Germany. Here I will be staying with a (temporary 2 month) host family.

Then I will live in Freiburg for a week. I will be staying with another temporary host family. During this time my permanent host family will be getting home from vacation in Australia. In Freiburg, I will most likely be helping at a school as an English teacher assistant.

After that short week I will move to Lörrach, Germany, I will live there with my permanent host family (Gastfamilie). I will attend the Kaufmännische Schule Lörrach (a German Business High School) from September to October. This is to help me practice speaking German, meet students my age, and adjust to the normal day-to-day life in Lörrach. Hopefully in early November I will begin my internship.

I don't leave for this crazy adventure until July 8, 2014, where I will be flying to Washington D.C. to attend an orientation for the program and meet the Congressmen who support this program. I actually leave the United States of America for Germany on July 11, 2014. I am so excited!

I will make sure to keep posting and share what I am doing over in Deutschland!
